Jeffrey Johnson is Professor of Complexity Science and Design. who joined the Open University in 1980 after three years as Senior Research Associate in the Geography Department of Cambridge University, and six years as Research Fellow in the Mathematics Department of Essex University. Jeff will be taking a look at the challanges that Santa faces with forecasting the Weather along his route on Christmas Eve, for those who attended last years event Ed Parsons showed us how Santa used Geospatial Technology to find his route, this year we will look at what help we can give Santa as far as predicting if there will be a snowstorm on route! Planetarium Lights in the Sky - Take a closer look at some of the phenomena that create wonderful lights in the sky. From daytime rainbows to the spectacular night time aurora. Then take a trip through the night time sky and find out how to tell the difference between a planet and a star and how to spot a satellite! |

This annual BCS Christmas lecture, is FREE to attend and open to all ages, however advance booking is required, as numbers are strictly limited. Bookings are welcome from both individuals and groups.
